Camino de Santiago in Spain

The Pilgrimage Way of St James from France to Santiago de Compostela in Spain is 480 miles long and has been in use for over 1000 years. This year three Open Doors supporters have chosen to walk the Camino de Santiago (as it is known in Spanish) as a Pilgrimage to raise money for the persecuted church.

Ian and Nigel

Ian and Nigel have completed their challenge! Starting in St Jean Pied de Port in France and crossing the Pyrenees in Spain 32 days later, they are full of testimonies of God’s goodness. Throughout their time they have been telling the story of Jesus and his suffering church and how we can stand with it.

So why have they chosen to do this? "We love long distance walking, but this is about so much more! We want to raise support for and awareness of Christians who face persecution because of their faith."

Huge thanks to 8 year old Hannah who organised a fundraising event for Ian in their local church. There were tables selling various items and Ian was put in the stocks for people to throw wet sponges at! The event raised a massive £518.88. Well done Hannah!

Huge congratulations to Louise who has also completed her Camino de Santiago challenge despite walking in the 32 degree heat! A passionate ambassador for Open Doors, she has been praying for all the countries on the World Watch List and encouraging everyone she meets to sign the One Million Voices of Home petition
